Personal crap ahead, so have a buffer image

I’ll be away from Oppo for a week or two, as I’m leaving for Boston tomorrow to have a tumor surgically removed from my neck. It’s a PITA, encompassing an artery, so it requires a little heavy construction. They’re essentially scavenging the rest of me for spare parts first.

Good luck. It's amazing what doctors can manage to repurpose. My girlfriend's dad had a tumor on his jaw a few years ago. They ended up removing 2/3 of his lower jaw and replacing it with a bone from his lower leg. You would never know it by looking at him, and he still can ride 100 miles on a bike so it's not like his leg misses that bone.

Wow! They did a nice CT angiogram! Very neat! G lomus tumor or carotid body tumor? Sorry - you never want to be the interesting case. But those tend not to be malignant and if you’re going to Mass General (or any of other academic hospitals in Boston ), you’ll do great. Good luck and we’ll definitely see you back soon.

Yes - those are indeed rare and interesting. My personal opinion is never go to academic centers for everyday things like joint replacements, appendicitis since your local hospital probably does a lot more of those.

This is the sort of thing you want to go to an academic center for. And specifically you want to go where you’re going.

It sounds like you’ve really got your ducks in a nice neat row.
